The chicken quesadilla was outstanding. Fresh tomatoes, grilled onions, salt pepper chicken and yummy cheese blend.

We are there last night. I'm not a huge fan of Mexican food unless I'm in Mexico. Started with guacamole which was fresh and had a very wonderfully different taste from most. My husband had a seafood hot pot that was delicious. Can't even explain it. I had a dish like a paella that was also good. I hope the road construction does cause this local gem to go under. Margaritas also very good. Had 2 they packed a punch.

Last-minute decision on a beach day for a birthday dinner. Mexican! 12 of us, six adults and six children, popped in on a Tuesday night and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It is small, quaint, well run, and I cannot begin to describe to you the artistry of the food that is prepared in the back. The margaritas were well received by all who ordered them and the food was memorable. Additionally, they have that little extra just because you can tell that they appreciate their clientele. It shows. it also seems rare in many places... Especially in touristy beach areas. The only reason that I did not get five stars was that the beers were not extremely cold (The server was happy to put them on ice for us for a little bit) and that they have a very odd large Pepsi refrigerator case at the front door which was empty and does not appear to serve any purpose whatsoever. The food was beautiful and delicious.

We were a bit skeptical when we arrived because the restaurant sits within a strip mall and no one was there. However we had received instruction not to judge so we did not. We were the only 5 persons in the restaurant and I will never understand why because the food was out of this world! We started with the house guacamole and choriqueso. Our only mistake was in ordering the small instead of the large! The quest is some of the best that I have ever had. The boys ordered burritos and chimichanga and my friend and I ordered chicken enchiladas and the chicken mocaljetes, respectively. WOW! Presentation of all dishes was amazing. Tastes were even better. I have grown up on authentic Mexican food and this is the real deal! Again, the only mistake made was to order just the chicken when I should have ordered the Mexican style mocaljetes which included chicken, beef, and shrimp! We will return before we leave this area and I will order it then! If you want excellent, authentic Mexican food....don't judge the restaurant from the exterior! Brave it and walk through the door! You will be glad that you did!

Awesome Mexican food at Fort Myers Beach! I'm from Texas... I know good Mexican food... This is pretty darn good! Especially for South Florida. The chips are fresh... Tortillas cut and fried. Yummy. Salsa with some real flavor and homemade tortillas.... What's not to like? I usually have to try local Mexican whenever I travel... Some is good... This is really good!

Very good fajita's. Service was also very good. We would come again defiantly recommend the combination fajita's

The molcajete is absolutely authentic and fabulous. They call it Volcanic rock. Take it from someone who has lived in Texas for 13 years and knows good Mexican restaurants, this place rivals the best of them.

  • Alycia W.

Delicious food and great service. Had the chips, guacamole, and salsa, tacos, steak quesadillas, and mexicano molcajetes. Everything was great, but the molcajetes were exceptional. Unfortunately, we're leaving tomorrow, but next time we're on town we'll definitely be back.

Our bill for 3 came to $43 but the food was very good and the serving size is great! The service was very good as well. I will come back again!!! Definitely get the chicken fajitas!!!!

  • Curt E.

Service was great. Small place but nice. Chips and salsa and cheese dip were outstanding. Burrito was average but big. All in all I'll come back.

  • Dan M.

Wow!! This is by far the best Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. The prices were reasonable and the service was excellent. They even had 1/2 off quesadillas at dinner time. I got an excellent value and if I lived here it would be the only Mexican restaurant I would go to. For sure.

    (5)
  • Kim K.

The homemade chips and salsa are the bomb. Enjoyed seasoned vegetable soft tacos. My DH loved the authentic steak tacos. Friends describe the Mocajetes as cheesy, flavorful meal in a hot volcanic bowl, served with tasty cactus on the side. Service was impeccable!

After checking out Yelp, my girlfriend & I came here for Cinco De Mayo. We're not big fans of chain restaurants so this looked like a perfect spot. The queso appetizer & our entrees were prepared by owner/chef & were very good. Service was quick and friendly. The margaritas, tho served in a small plastic cup, were very good as well. It's nice to go to a place where they truly appreciate the customer & I highly recommend it.

This was a hole in the wall inside a strip mall but I really don't care about that. We came for the food and since it was rated so well we gave it a try. Margaretas were mostly ice - very little liquor. Wife ordered the steak tacos and was told they don't serve tacos for dinner - only lunch. No seriously, this really happened. A Mexican restaurant would not make a taco after 4pm. Carne Asada - served medium well and tough. It was fair. Chicken Enchilladas were not very good. Chicken was dry and rubbery. guacamole was terrible Salsa was fantastic so there's one redeeming quality. We don't leave reviews to hurt business but we went here based on Yelp reviews. I don't want you to make a similar mistake.

We've been twice, but will no doubt go twice more before leaving for home. The authenticity of this restaurant did it for me, I'm talking chorizo, it's a game changer! The service was excellent. I can't wait to get the chance to try a different meals from the same menu.

  • Gordon G.

Went there for lunch today. Ordered chicken enchiladas mole. Not two, not three, but four enchiladas on the plate! Good tortillas, good mole sauce, chicken average. Covered with shredded lettuce, tomato and avacado and crema (thin sour cream). Decent rice and beans. Very good chips and salsa. Good service. Yes I will go back. It's in the Sea Grape Plaza.

  • Vicki R.

Fantastic margaritas, delicious guacamole and chips, and tasty, fresh ingredients for the entrees. I had the enchiladas with red sauce, and found them to have just enough kick. The guacamole was definitely delicious. Another reviewer didn't care for the margaritas, but for me, they worked -- they're not huge sloshing bowls of alcohol. They're fresh, limey, tart little cocktails. Yes, they have ice in them, but they're nice cocktails at a good price. Worked for me!

In deference to friends that live near by I will be as diplomatic as possible. We have been eating Mexican/Tex Mex for years, we are not from the East coast or from Florida but we have been living in FL. for 7 years. There is only one place we found suitable, and although a chain with 3 restaurants in FL. they have over 4 facilities in Dallas alone, so you know they have to be good to compete in a Mexican Mecca like Texas. Now for the good news, adequate parking at Charros, bright white lines and perpendicular with adequate lighting. A good place for handicap parking, need we say more?.We do go there once a year, and since within walking distance have never attempted to park. Yes there is food and drink ..

Let me start with the guy who owns this place now just opened it last week. So most of these reviews are out dated and need to be ignored. Went here tonight, it's really good. We needed a change from seafood and this was perfect. My husband had the steak tacos, he liked them so much he ordered 2 more. I had the chicken enchilada with mole sauce and so yummy! The rice that comes with it is even good The chips that they start you off with are right out of the fryer and the salsa is for sure fresh. The owner is such a nice guy and took great care of us. I will be supporting this place in the future. When ever I'm on the beach I will be stopping here

  • Bonnie M.

Great fresh Mexican food. Don't let the location in a strip mall stop you from experiencing the best food in the area. All the food is fresh. Try one of their special bowls.

  • Caitlin S.

Delicious tacos. Very nice and friendly service. Kind of a "hole in the wall" but the food is authentic, spicy and very tasty!!!! Coming back again! This is what you want!

If you are in the mood for authentic Mexican food you have to check out the Charros brothers here on Fort Myers Beach. We had the freshly made guacamole with a shrimp quesadillas and the mixed fajitas served in pineapple. Wow!! The food excites your taste buds and lights up your senses. Best Mexican I have had outside Puerto Vallarta.

Visited Charros Brothers based on Yelp reviews. Never would have stopped at this small strip mall eatery otherwise. Outstanding Mexican food. Everyone agreed their selections were very flavorful and generous . Even the chips and salsa were especially good. The chicken enchiladas with tomatillos sauce were the best I've ever eaten. Service was great, too. Our server, Araceli, was friendly and efficient. I recommend this spot wholeheartedly.

This is our absolute favorite mexican restaurant on the beach. Authentic food, most amazing chips & guacamole I've ever had. Service is impeccable! I'm afraid to give a positive review for fear of this place becoming so busy but I want this business to stay on the beach. Located in sea grape plaza & worth waiting in beach traffic for. You won't be disappointed!

  • Daniel M.

Phenomenal Mexican food. The cook came out to ask us exactly how we like our food prepared. The waitress was cute and enthusiastic, and they went heavy on the garlic. All in all, nothing fancy and not quite inexpensive, but if you want the best Mexican food in Ft. Myers Beach at a fair price, this is the place to go.

  • Mike K.

Beware, this restaurant did not accept our coupon because they said they had new ownership. They were unwilling to honor the coupon or give us any type of discount on our meal, because the "owner said so". This is not a rant. This is just letting others know the way this establishment has decided to treat their customers. Now, about the food. There was 5 of us in our party, and no one else in the restaurant. Cheese dip was similar to frito lay canned cheese dip. They charge you $2.99 for a second basket of chips. The chips were homemade and delicious, but you only get about 30 pieces. The rest of the food was ok at best, not delicious, and the margaritas were terrible. We had to ask to get refills for the kids drinks. Our bill was almost $75. We can and have eaten much better mexican food for less than $50.

We always try to find good Mexican food for at least one of our meals on a trip. This is the real deal for Mexican food. Seriously, just go here. We tried four of the items on the menu. Each of them was fresh, made with quality ingredients, and prepared perfectly. Service was awesome. Portions are HUGE. Not typical for beach places. It is worth the trip, and we will repeat.

Don't judge the quality of the restaurant by the strip mall where it is located! While the exterior of The Charros Brothers restaurant is rather unassuming, the food certainly is not! We had a fantastic dinner. I had the Molcajetes which was very delicious. My daughter enjoyed the pork carnitas which were moist tender and very flavorful. My husband had enchiladas which were also very well made and the tomatillo sauce over the top was great. We all liked the choriqueso appetizer well. I'd skip the bean dip appetizer next time. It was good but not as good as everything else we tried. Lastly, we couldn't pass up the homemade churros and flan for dessert. Both were outstanding! The service was excellent as well. Our server was very attentive. We will definitely return the next time we are in the area.

Discovered this cute restaurant for lunch, excellent, fresh Mexican food, very hospitable new owner, enjoyed the Monterey quesadillas (steak, cheese and avocado) and shrimp fajitas. Will definitely return before the end of our vacation.

My husband and I just had an incredible take out meal from Charros Bros. Excellent carne asana tacos, chicken burrito, tostadas -- an all around top flight taqueria. We live in Chicago and my husband lived in Texas for 3 years feasting on Mexican food and this place ranks high on our all time list. If you visit the island and eat a taco from Yo Taco (closer to the "downtown") without trying this spot we would consider it a HUGE mistake. Long live Charros Bros!

Excellent chorizo tacos. Friendly service. Prices are ok. If you want something other than the stuff from places in Times Square, you should give this place a try.

Located in the plaza next to giant library on Fort Myers Beach - We have been in about 8 times since they opened a few months ago and we consistently receive a wonderful AUTHENTIC Mexican meal. Friendly and prompt service, cozy casual atmosphere, and reasonable prices. I love their tamales, while my husband just love their homemade salsas...we also get take out from time to time! Try Charros Brothers, it will become an island favorite !

    (5)
  • Patrick J.

Wife had the tamales with rice and beans. She also said that they were very good and will also have them again. Lunch came with free chips and salsa, like many Mexican restaurants. They were fresh, hot, and the salsa had a nice medium kick to it. Service was prompt, friendly, and helpful. Waitress answered a bunch of our questions which resulted in both of us being very happy with our choices. We live close and will be back. Restaurant is nice but not real visible from the street. It is in the same plaza as Wells Fargo, so still easy to find. Try it, you'll like it.

Just found this new restaurant on our island . Took my family to lunch and we all loved the food and service. We will definitely go back. My son-in-law said the salsa verde was especially good .

Worst Mexican I have ever eaten at. Went for cinco de mayo early. Not many patrons when we arrived (seven in our party). Had to ask for drink service after 10+ minutes. Wait person spilled a drink all over one person and muttered a sorry. Food came and was luke warm. The seventh person received her food ten minutes later after we complained. Her food was also barely warm. One person asked for water and the wait person brought one glass and didn't ask if anyone else wanted any. The food, even though Luke warm was the worse I have eaten and and I'm from colorado, one person was from Arizona and one from New Mexico where lots of Mexicans live. I had fajitas and there was no flavor in the chicken. Same for the beef one. Just grilled meat with rice and beans. No sour cream or guacamole. Don't know how it was billed as authentic and don't know how folks gave it so many stars. Must have been their friends and family. Wouldn't recommend it at all!!!

    (1)
  • Dave B.

Party of six had an authentic Mexican meal with excellent chips and salsa and homemade sangria. They have a mild salsa and a hot salsa for the brave. You have to ask for it though. Place is small but I'm told plans are in the works to expand to the empty business next door which will make the dining area much larger and comfortable. We will return to this hidden gem again soon!

  • Jelly B.

Friendly and attentive service, not very crowded if you dine in and noticed a lot of takeout orders. Food was good and mid-priced. The beans are delicious, one of the best I've ever tasted. Portions are very large too, I barely got 1/3rd way through my enchiladas suizas before I was stuffed. The chips and salsa are very good. I did not know if you ask for a refill on both they will charge you $3, so just keep that in mind. Definitely a dive local place in a strip mall, but it was easy to eat at and food was good. I don't think I would rave about it to someone else, but if you don't want to wait for a table and want good food, it's a decent stop.

Fabulous molcajetes!! Second time here and each time perfectly fresh and flavorful. Excellent service. Small diner, reasonably priced and great lunch spot.

  • Janice T.

Wonderful food! Would have given it 5 stars, but the service was a little slow (small place, one waiter). The margaritas were perfect and my meal - Ala Diabla - was AMAZING. I don't usually like things too spicy but I couldn't put my fork down.

    (4)
  • Gincy P.

Delicious authentic Mexican! Weak points are margaritas (mix only) and nachos; strong points are really awesome chips and salsa, guac, and savory cheese sauce. Delcious chile relleno!!! In a strip mall but atmosphere makes an effort and menu has enough typos to prove legitimacy. Solicitous staff, too. Will come back for food and consider sneaking in lime juice and tequila to boost the margarita's flavor!

Good mole, great rice, good al pastor tacos. I'll be making this a go to restaurant on Ft. Myers Beach! Make sure to order an extra side of mole.

If you want to eat from an excellent Mexican cooks "kitchen ", come here. There are no combinations! This isn't chi chi's. This is authentic excellent Mexican food in a small comfortable environment. When I asked for a tamale on the side, they could not do that. WHY?? Because every meal is fresh and prepared by the cook and there is no commercialism. The tamales have their own dish. If you want them, then order the dish. My wife and daughter are simply picky. THEY LOVED THE FOOD AND PLACE. btw, Gerardo was our waiter and was super attentive and nice. Ask for him!!! I've had chimichangas, quesadillas, enchiladas, fajitas and Superb Guacamole!!! All food is best.

  • Amy K.

Excellent, authentic Mexican food. I was in Fort Myers Beach for a few days last week for a family event and once we found this place we went back several times, each time bringing more family members. The food is very fresh and really delicious. Excellent guacamole (and I know my guacamole!), fresh home-made tortilla chips, delicious pico de gallo (salsa fresca) and hot salsas. The tacos and enchiladas were delicious. The staff were very friendly and super accommodating-- verde sauce wasn't on the menu but they happily prepared our enchiladas in verde sauce instead of mole. One family member wanted to mix and match tacos and enchiladas, and another family member wanted a half order of enchiladas and they happily accommodated both requests.

Had a great Mexican meal with family and were very satisfied with the food, service, and atmosphere. True Mexican fare, not Tex-Mex or chain restaurant food. We were all well taken care of by our waiter. Margaritas were great and each of us promised to return as we really enjoyed our dining experiences. Plenty of food and nicely presented and the homemade tortilla chips and salsa were nice touches.

New restaurant on the island. Only authentic Mexican food on the beach that I know of. Was delicious!! Took my food to go. I had the chicken enchiladas. Can't wait to try other items!

  • Kat A.

A solid 3. Off the beaten path off the main drag in a minimall. Authentic Mexican, reasonable portions but as with all things on the island I discovered mediocre delivers. This is just another type of food once you get bored with all the american traditional options. Get the corn tortillas and use the hot sauce.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
